It’s Almost Here!

One more sleep until the conference!   I am just at home packing my things and getting one last good night of sleep before we kick things off tomorrow evening.   I’m sure many of you are doing the same.  Earlier this evening I poked my head in on the delegate bag stuffing/registration envelope collation and was very impressed with our fantastic group of volunteers who had everything well in hand.

Thanks so much to all of you who are making this a reality!  All the hours of hard work, energy and imagination are finally coming together!

I expect to be at the conference hotel tomorrow after 3 pm if you have any questions for me.  But I well expect our fantastic registration and information desk volunteers to be able to field many of your questions.

The Toronto folk are very much looking forward to welcoming you!

Closing Banquet – Join Us!

Tickets are still available for the NE2007 Closing Banquet on Oct. 20 at the Marriott Hotel.  You’ll dance the night away with great music, interactive performers, innovative entertainment,  giveaways, a buffet dinner and lots of fun. 

Even if you can’t make the conference you can still attend the banquet.  Check the main website for registration information. 

Hotel – Today is Last Day for Booking!

Mary Saulig (your Local Arrangements Committee Chair) and I are just about to head up to the Marriott Eaton Centre to make final arrangements for booking sessions into meeting rooms, and have a look at the list of guests who have booked rooms for the conference.   Meanwhile, a number of other committee members will be taking one last site visit to see how we will be laying everything out.  We are coming down to the final crunch on all fronts!

Which reminds me, today is the last day to book a room with the conference hotel at our conference rate price.  After this, you will pay their regular rates and your booking will not count towards our numbers to off-set meeting room costs.  So, if you are thinking of coming, I urge you to book today!  Don’t delay!!

Hotel – Wed. Sept. 26 is deadline for conference discount!

This Wednesday, September 26th is the deadline for booking your hotel at the special conference rate of $199 Cdn per night.  After that, the hotel block is released back to the wild and prices will likely be significantly higher for a room.

Even if you are uncertain and still thinking about attending, you should reserve a room now.

Early Bird Deadlines approaching quickly!

Please don’t forget the early bird registration fees close after this Friday, August 17th.   As well, the hotel rate goes up slightly after Friday as well.   Book now to avoid disappointment! 

I am quite delighted at the number of registrations that have been coming in!   If you have not received your confirmation/receipt back, you will shortly.   I haven’t sent any out to the Canadian registrants yet (just so you know).    Jim Gernert, who is processing the U.S. registrations, is more on top of the game I believe.

 One bit of clarification:   the opening night reception on Wed. Oct. 17th is included in your full conference registration fee.   The closing banquet is not.  If you would like to attend the closing banquet, please make note there is an additional fee.

Hotel Rooms – Ready for Booking *PLUS* New Conference Rate Deadline

Finally I have an answer for everyone!   

A new block of rooms has been added for Wednesday night October 17th at the Marriott Eaton Centre. If you have had problems reserving your room, those problems have now been resolved and you should be able to make your reservations for the NE Regional Meeting.

Please reserve your rooms by August 17th to get the best deal at $179.00 per night (CAD). On August 18, the rate increases to $199.00 per night.  The deadline for reservations is September 26, 2007, but it is possible we may fill up our room block before that time.

Hotel Rooms – New Update

 I know everyone is anxious to book your rooms at the same time as you register for the conference.   Currently rooms are still available at the conference rate fof $179 Cdn a night for the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights (Oct. 18 – 20).    We are working with the hotel to free up an additional block of rooms at the conference rate for the Wednesday night, October 17th.    If you try to book and get a “not available” message,  please do not despair!    More rooms should be available by Thursday, August 2.  Booking is available through the Accommodations page of the main website.

 We appreciate your patience on this one–it should be resolved shortly.  I will post a note here as soon as it is.

Hotel Update

As anyone who has tried to book Wednesday night knows, we haven’t resolved our problem with opening up more rooms for that evening.    Thanks for your patience–we are still working with the hotel on it and hope to have an update by tomorrow.

We are aware of a problem currently with signing up for rooms at the Marriott via the link on our main website.   I have put a call in to them to clear up the problem as quickly as possible.

Update July 26/07, 4:00 p.m.:   I have spoken with our representative at the hotel.  We did not have a big enough block of rooms reserved under our conference rate on Oct. 17th.  We are working to open up more rooms at our special conference rate.  If you would like to book for Oct. 17th please hold off booking until tomorrow when we hope to have more rooms available.   Thank you for your patience.  Rooms have moved more quickly than we anticipated!  – Connie

Hotel prices note

The hotel price listed in my post on Friday, $179 per night double or single, is in Canadian $$.  Good news for everyone travelling up from the U.S.!   It is a fantastic price since most decent hotels in Toronto are now over $200 CDN.
